Pacman Frogs: Small Bundles of Fury or Adorable Amphibians?

Pacman frogs, also known as African dwarf frogs, are a species of frog native to tropical climates. They have become popular among reptile enthusiasts due to their unique physical traits and required care.

Pacman frogs get their name from their resemblance to the classic arcade game character Pac-Man. They have large eyes that are almost always wide open and a round body shape with short legs. This combined with their coloration gives them an uncanny resemblance to the famous yellow game character.

These amphibians prefer warm temperatures in their habitat, between 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit. They need a high humidity level, good ventilation and plenty of hiding spots. A shallow water source should also be provided for soaking activities but only part of the tank should be filled with water so they can move around safely without getting into deep pools or flooding themselves unintentionally by submerging for too long in water.

In terms of diet, pacman frogs are predominantly carnivores and enjoy eating mealworms and crickets supplemented with occasionally vegetables like cut up carrots or other fruits and vegetables that meet their nutritional needs. In terms of behavior, these frogs have a very low activity level and mainly remain hidden during the day while they come out at night to search for food. During this time they are particularly alert and may jump when startled by sudden movements or loud noises nearby.
